This is a recessive gene that occasionally pops up in litters of Akita's.  Both parents have to carry the longcoat gene.
 I personally think that a longcoat is a stunning animal, they make fantastic pets. Here are some proud owners
with their  "coated" akitas that I have bred or by my stud dogs.  Thanks to everyone who keeps in touch,
we have made some special friends through these furballs.
