THE HOUSE THAT HIKAY’S BUILT ON SOLID FOUNDATIONS

We are a small but very successful show kennel with over thirtyeight years experience in showing/judging and breeding .
From a young age, Keith and I were always involved with dogs, Keith with his Whippets and me with anything on four legs.

Showing began in 1975 with our first love - Dobermanns, we bred many Champions, including Ch Hikay’s Rumour Has It - Winalot Pup of the Year 1995, daughter of Ch Hikay’s Rock Folley.

After great success in Dobermanns we introduced Eric our foundation Akita bitch, only lightly shown she gained two CC’s and many RCC’s she went on to produce many Champions both in the UK and abroad and is the backbone of all our Akita champions.

Then came Paris (Manorcroft Thin Red Line at Hikay’s) my first Rottweiler, Keith has always wanted Rotts and fell in love with her so another breed was introduced to our Kennels. Paris produced my first Rottweiler Champion Brook - Ch Hikay’s Miss Behavin, from which the Hikay’s Rottweiler line continues to grow from strength to strength.

Most recently, I have begun successfully showing and handling Japanese Shiba Inu’s, with great success having made one up in to a Champion, and Gabby currently on 2 CC’s and 5 RCC’s.

We take great pleasure in rearing puppies, whether for showing by ourselves or others, or laying in front of a fire; we ensure we breed happy well balanced puppies, through a selective breeding programme breeding for temperament, type and soundness followed by early socialisation and a lifetime of support. We keep in regular contact with many of the owners of our puppies and have been lucky that they’ve all gone to such good homes - over the years the same owners come back for more and more of Hikay’s!
